Recently we were lucky enough to spend a few nights at Amberley Castle on an amazing road trip through the United Kingdom. The castle is tucked perfectly in the countryside of Sussex in the south of England and has roots dating back to the 1100s. The hotel boasts 19 luxury rooms and award winning dinning all surround in a stunning 60 foot tall wall complete with portcullis.
Amberley castle is the perfect place to base up and explore southern England. It is within a few hours from Stonehenge, Highclere Castle, Brighton beach, and Arundel. Not to mention the picturesque village of Amberley itself.
One of the many highlights from our stay was the amazing dinning experiences. We can’t recommend having a traditional cream tea in the lounge surrounded by comfy couches, antiques, and a roaring fire. The experience of having a delicious full English breakfast to start a long day of exploring and some of the most amazing room service we have ever had this place delivers.
Aside from the 12 acres of charming gardens that surround Amberley, the putting course, the lake, the tennis court, and the croquet in a dry moat bed, Amberley comes second to none when it comes to the service. From the time we opened the heavy wooden door and felt the warmth of the fireplace, the team did everything they could to make us feel welcomed. When we travel to other countries on long drawn out trips it’s the little things like a daily newspaper, comfortable bedding, and having someone happy to provide you the comforts of home that really stands out. Amberley Castle ticks all of the boxes.
