Food Tour: Kaua’i, HI (Part 2)

If you haven’t read part 1 of our Kaua’i food tour make sure to check that out here (Link).

Jumping right back into our food tour of the garden isle we are starting with a place that is taking my favorite dish in all of Hawai’i and making it their own.

Saimin Dojo is a modern take on the classic noodle dish, with things like their housemade garlic sesame broth, Teriyaki chicken, and even Vegan Saimin. Being a purist   at heart, I grabbed a bowl of the classic with Fried spam, egg, Kai Choy, green onions, Kamaboko, and their incredible Dojo broth.

With 2 locations on the island you have double the chances to grab a Bubba Burger or a Double Bubba like me. Fresh ground Kaua’i grass-fed beef topped with cheese, mustard, relish, and onions on a toasted bun.

Need something to erase all of the guilt of bowl after bowl of noodles and all those mouth watering burgers?? Then a stop at Kauai Juice Co. is necessary. You can’t go wrong with any of their cold pressed juice but my favorite is the Omega This juice – Orange, pineapple, dragonfruit, chia seeds, and the fruit that needs to be in everything- soursop.

Now the last thing I had in mind while on my way to Kaua’i was tacos and if we hadn’t been paying attention we would have missed it. But thankfully the taco gods were shining down on us and we ended up at Tiki Tacos. With more of that Kaua’i grass-fed beef that now frequents my dreams, roast pork, or chorizo packed into a warm, thick, fresh made tortilla topped with greens, salsa, and sour cream, you can’t miss.

Now that you have made it to the end of this 2 part food tour of Kaua’i I will let you in on the best kept secret in all of Hawaiian food – Mark’s Place. Now when I tell you that I  would literally buy a plane ticket to have just one more combination plate from Mark’s, I would not be exaggerating. My plate of choice was Chicken Katsu, Korean Chicken, Teriyaki Beef, Rice, and Potato Macaroni salad all washed down with a ice cold can of POG. This place is filled with the friendliest people and quality food. Nothing feels more Hawaiian.
